I have finally recovered from our sweat shop we had going on at the last session. It was awesome to see everyone come together with their machines, taking care of business and having fun doing it! Thank you all!! I’m really looking forward to our Quilt Day this month!

Let’s start off the quilts using 6″ squares. I love the variety we can get from these:

I recently went to Quilt Camp and at a quilt store ran across a beautiful and intricate quilt on display. The store was out of the pattern so I went online and found it from Sassafras Lane. O.M.G. They have some of the cutest and coolest patterns!! I bought several – you should check them out. These super cute applique animal patterns are PERFECT for RMH. Here are my first 3. You will be seeing a lot more of these. I was testing out the fusible web and applique methods with these. Here are my results…

The bear is made with HeatnBond and a blanket stitch before quilting. The fusible web is way too stiff for this since there are multiple layers. I even washed it – still too stiff.

Little penguin dude was made with freezer paper, then I used the homemade basting spray to adhere it to the background and raw edge applique after it was basted. I like the furry look after a washing and obviously it’s soft since there is not fusible web. Pieces moved around a bit though, so on to my next trial….

This little piggy was made with Wonder Under and a blanket stitch. This is now my preferred method, at least with these large applique quilts. He washed up very nice too.
