What an eventful night last night!! The Newport Central Catholic High School cheerleaders came back to help us make Ouch Buddies! They helped us last year in November by making 54 buddies, but this year, these now Ouch Buddy making pros cranked out 133! Well done! These will certainly help the kids while they are going through treatments.
They also helped us out by taking pictures of the wonderful quilts that were turned in – good thing too because I missed a lot of show & tell! We had 30 finished quilts to add to the tally, bringing us up to 90% of our goal, and we still have 4 months to go!!
Here are some quilts made with standard blocks, but you can still see how the makers change them up a bit:
Here are some blocks jazzed up with borders:
We have some panels, disappearing nine patch action and some more creativity mixing those blocks up:
Hold on to your sewing machines! Check these out:
How awesome are those? We also had 4 pillowcases turned in! Two were with help from the cheerleaders using the Hot Diggity Dog method. Yup, that’s a thing.
Next month, the Ft. Thomas group will tackle the Dog Gone Cute pattern from Lorna @ Sew Fresh Quilts to make some adorable puppy quilts! I’m also linking up to her Let’s Bee Social page below.
I’m so proud of the progress this group has made. I love seeing the quilts that come in and can only imagine how excited the kids at the Ronald McDonald House are to receive them.
